The Cheese Museum Amsterdam

The time has arrived for me to write about my Amsterdam trip highlight – The Cheese Museum.

Before heading to the Anne Frank museum we did some cheese tasting. Did you know that Dutch cheese has more than 600 years long tradition and the names of different sorts of cheese are often taken from different cities in the Netherlands – Gouda, Edam, Leerdammer, Leyden, Maaslander, Maasdam, etc?

The cheese museum is a shop with also an exhibition part and where the staff wears traditional Dutch clothes. We tasted the different varieties of traditional Dutch Gouda cheese and then we visited the Gouda cheese museum where there were educational videos and pictures about the history and the production of Dutch cheese.

There is also a photo booth where we dressed up as Dutch farmers and took a picture, well, a few.

So if you’re a big fan of cheese and you are going to the Anne Frank museum, you should definitely visit the cheese museum which is right across the street. Just a heads up! The admission is free of charge, but you’ll probably end up buying a lot of cheese!

Italy in Amsterdam

I have a never ending obsession for Italian cuisine, so it doesn’t matter the country I visit, I tend to always end up trying at least one Italian restaurant. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Al contrario!

So on our first day in Amsterdam, we decided to have dinner at Piadina Bar and here’s our experience:

The location is very convenient since it’s so close to the metro station and you know, it’s Amsterdam, everything is a walk away! (Unless it’s raining). The service was excellent, the staff is very friendly and quick. And when it comes to food…

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but please keep in mind that the pizzas are even more delicious than what they look like. There’s no fair way to describe them, you should just give them a try. We’ve ordered

We’ve also done some Italian beer tasting which was one of the best decisions of this trip.

My mom also asked to mention in this review their great music selection. She spent pretty much of her time singing or dancing without leaving her place. Oh well, moms.

Sunset Party| Vertigem Azul

If you’re searching for something new and different to do this summer, I would totally advise you to experience a sunset at a catamaran while enjoying the views and having a glass of wine.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been to Vertigem Azul’s boat. You can read my dolphin watching experience last year here.

This time I brought a few friends with me for a sunset party with wine tasting. After a day at the beach (Troia) being inside this catamaran with the views of the Sado river as a background and a glass of wine (sponsored by Ribera del Guadiana) it was all that I needed for a special weekend.

I can say it was one of the most relaxing days I ever had. As a bonus, we got to see a few dolphins before heading home.
