Ask Italian| Restaurant Review

Like Giuseppe Verde (opera composer) said “You may have the Universe if I may have Italy”.

I also want Italy, pretty much all the time. And when I find a nice Italian restaurant my joy levels go up enormously.

After a Saturday spent shopping at Bluewater Shopping Centre in Dartford, England for the ones who are not familiar with this giant place, we went for a family dinner at Ask Italian.

The place was packed and we had to wait on a queue to be assigned a table, but the staff was very nice and efficient and not even 10 minutes went by when we were already sitting and choosing from the menu.

There are several ways of testing if an Italian Restaurants good, including looking around to see if there are any actual Italians eating there too, but I was too tired to pay attention to that, so may other technique, a more delicious one, is order a Lasagne.

My boyfriend ordered the Sea bass fillet baked in a white wine sauce with new potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach.

And his sister went for the Linguine Carbonara, a crispy pancetta in a rich creamy sauce with Pecorino, mascarpone and Riserva cheeses.

All of it was so delicious that surprisingly I didn’t have space for dessert. But we will definitely come back for more and try that Melting Eton Mess Tower with dark chocolate filled with strawberries, cream and meringue, and vanilla gelato, I saw on the menu and on several other tables.

Shopping in Italy: Fidenza Village

It’s common knowledge the fact that when you go to Italy, you must shop! I’m glad we just clarified that.

So this Summer I was invited to a Party in the countryside of Italy. You can read the post about the hotel where I stayed here.

That is when I found out about Fidenza Village located just 60 minutes from Milan and Bologna. Where you can discover previous seasons’ collections from the world’s leading Italian and international luxury fashion and lifestyle brands.

With free Wi-Fi (cheers to that), personal shopping, restaurants and cafes, I could spend a week there!

I had lunch at the restaurant Best of Italy (Curated by Chef Massimo Spigaroli), with a very inviting terrace, delicious pasta and parma ham. Perfect for more hours of shopping.

Here is a list of a few shops at Fidenza Village:

Armani Outlet,Blumarine, Calvin Klein Collection, Camper, Class Roberto Cavalli, Coccinelle (Chloè, Marc Jacobs, John Galliano, John Richmond, Alberto Guardiani), Dolce & Gabbana, Desigual, Diesel, Elena Mirò, Ferrari Store, Fossil, Guess, Lacoste, La Perla, Levi’s, Lindt, Marlboro Classics, Merrell, Michael Kors, Paul Smith, Polo Ralph Lauren, Swarovski, Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger, Versace, etc.

Antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello: Italia

My favourite European country for its food, fashion, cars, landscapes, language, beaches, and the list is infinite. Italia la piu bella!

This year I was invited to a private party in Parma, a city in the region of Emilia- Romagna famous for its prosciutto, cheese, architecture and surrounding countryside.

So we stayed at the Antico borgo di Tabiano Castello for the weekend. Hell yeah! In a castle! Situated in the green hills in the province of Parma, Tabiano Castle dates back to the 11th century.

With rooms, suites and apartments to choose from, divided between the old guard tower and the original main residence, all of them with magnificent views of the countryside and the wide plains of the River Po.

I promised myself that this post wouldn’t be only about food so no, the first thing I did was not going to eat, but I did enjoy a nice swim and tanning session at the swimming pool surrounded by medieval walls and olive trees.

You can also enjoy, inside the relaxation area, which is a natural cave, the sauna and Turkish bath and avail of a range of massage and treatments including Shiatsu, Antistress, Reflexology, foot and face treatments, etc.

Okay now I have to talk a little about food because it’s Italy after all! As expected, the traditional products such as Parmesan and Parma Ham can be tasted at the Relais and products of the area can be bought at the reception. The first photograph above is a “sneak peek” of my breakfast!
