It’s not the first time that I try a meal delivery service, for several reasons – it saves me time not having to do grocery shopping and it makes us try different meals at home.
So this time I decided to try Hello Fresh and after a lot of compliments from family, friends and family on social media about the delicious look of my latest meal photos on social media, I decided it was about time to write a review and answer all your questions.
Trying new recipes is one of my favourite hobbies and Hello Fresh puts together the meal plan and mail you the recipes with all the ingredients, so it makes it very easy!
They have 3 plans to choose from. The Classic, Veggie, and Family Plan. I chose the Classic meal plan, where you can choose between 2 and 4 people and receive 3, 4, or 5 meals. The price is going to change depending on which you choose.
Hello Fresh creates the recipes, compiles all the ingredients, and delivers to your door. All you have to do is cook it. And the great thing is that the recipes are classic but at the same time you get introduced to new foods.
Also, you can pause delivery whenever you want. So you can schedule Hello Fresh for busy times when you don’t have time to plan out dinner or go to the grocery store.
So here are the meals I’ve tried:
Balsamic Steak with Red cabbage and Potato Wedges
It’s difficult to find this great quality steak at a supermarket! I also loved the potato wedges with the rosemary leaves – perfect touch! Rated 4 stars, just because I’m not a fan of Red cabbage.
Mexican Chicken with Roasted Peppers and Homemade Refried Beans
I’m a big fan of Mexican food so I need to rate this meal with 5 stars! Especially because of the mixed beans with chilli, amazingly delicious!
Thai Pork Stir-Fry with Green Beans, Holy Basil and Rice
Just so you can have an idea, my sister hates spicy food but this was her favourite meal on the box. Once again the meat was a very good quality one and all the ingredients were fresh, which makes a huge difference when it comes to taste. I have to rate this meal with 5 stars too.
Bacon & Butternut Risotto with Chilli and Cheese
This recipe took us quite a long time to put together, but it was also because it was our first time doing a risotto and the preparation of a good risotto is quite an art! I can proudly say that we mastered that art! It was a delicious risotto and the butternut cubes gave it a fresh and different flavour. Because of being time-consuming I would say 4 stars for this meal.
Creamy Linguine with King Prawns and Serrano Ham
It’s not easy to find good quality seafood, so once I saw this recipe on the website I knew I had to give it a try. Linguine is one of my favourite pastas and it came out delicious! The only thing I would’ve changed is the amount of creme-fraiche, I’m not a big fan and for that I have to give it 4 stars.
Mushroom Tagliatelle with Stroganoff Sauce and Broccoli
Everyone needs to try this amazing sauce: Ketchup, paprika, water, a squeeze of lemon juice, a pinch of lemon zest and Worcester sauce. It’s amazing and I saved a little bit to use with other meals, that’s how much of a fan I became of this specific meal, so I have to give it 5 stars!
