Because Cape Town is a place that will never stop surprising us, here is my latest discovery in perfect getaways. The Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge.
This 5-star luxury lodge is located at the base of Chapman’s Peak overlooking at the fishing village: Hout Bay, Cape Town.
I went to Tintswalo for dinner and of course, for the lovely sunset.
As soon as we arrived, we had to leave the car in a secure parking area at the top of the cliff. We were then picked up in a golf car by Ryno, one of the general managers of Tintswalo Atlantic.
He drove us down to the lodge. The views on the way down are simply amazing so remember to bring your camera.
Once we arrived at the lodge, a welcome drink was waiting for us. We then sat at the terrace waiting for the sunset while we were served with this delicious canapes: Vegetable roll, carpaccio and cheese on toast and zuchinni with tomato.
If you are still wondering what Tintswalo means (I know I was), it means “the intangible feeling of love, gratitude and peace bestowed upon someone offering you a meaningful and worthy gift.”
But what makes this place so special is not only the fact that you are so close to the Atlantic sea and the mountain at the same time, but also the fact that this lodge is not going to last forever. Ryno explained that Tintswalo was made to last 30 years only and then they will have to remove the lodge somewhere else. Which means that this is paradise with expiration date!
After watching the beautiful sunset it’s time to taste the chef’s work of art! We all start with a Zucchini and Truffle soup:
As a starter I had the Tempura Prawn served with Herb Rosti, Wild Rocket and Sweet Soy Reduction:
The amuse bouche was a Watermelon and Pomegranate Sorbet:
As a main I chose the Norwegian Salmon served with Fennel Aracini, sauteed Broccolini, Wild Mushroom Ragout, Prawn Bisque and Lemon Splash:
For dessert I had the Cardamom Creme Caramel served with Turkish Delight Marshmallow, Rose Dust Bar One Ice cream and Kahlua Biscuit:
Tintswalo Atlantic is located in Cape Town, two kilometers from Hout Bay on the Chapman’s Peak road. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport, and 25 minutes from the City of Cape Town.

I had a lovely evening and I will certainly visit again!
